5. Marble Mountain, Hai Van Pass & Blue Lagoon – Private Tour

Three options to choose: Vintage army jeep / Modern car / Motorbike
Starts daily at 7.30 AM – Lasts 8 hours

Starting from your hotel in Hoi An or Da Nang, enjoy a nice ride along the coastline to Marble Mountain, a highlight sightseeing in Da Nang because of its alluring beauty. Stone steps carved into the mountain lead to historical Buddhist pagoda and stunning caves used as secret bases by Vietnamese revolutionaries in the wars. To this day, Buddhist monk and locals still come here for chanting. Take a nice walk with Local Buddy to admire spectacular views of Da Nang city and the 500-year-old sculpture village at the foot of the mountain.
We then drive toward the famous Hai Van pass, the most scenic coastal road in Vietnam, featured in BBC’s Top Gear show as a must-see when traveling to Da Nang. Winding mountain road invites travelers to experience hairpin turns and take in the stunning views of mountain ranges with endless white sand beaches and Lang Co bay underneath. This army strategic location creates a unique impression that cannot be found anywhere else in Vietnam.
Later on, we enjoy delicious Vietnamese lunch in the stilted local restaurant with the breathtaking view of Bach Ma national park in the distance, then drive off-the-beaten-path around the Blue Lagoon, the hidden gem that most tourists miss. Follow Local Buddy to visit a friendly family to learn fishermen’s lifestyle and take pictures of their fascinating oyster farms. After this awesome day, we drive back to the hotel, the tour lasts approximately 8 hours.

“Firstly, let me just say that this was hands down my favourite experience in Vietnam!
Today we went on the Marble Mountain, Hai Van Pass and Lap An Lagoon private tour.
We had Ben as our guide and he was amazing!!
Ben took us to Marble Mountain to start and gave us a some very interesting information about the history of this magnificent place. We then went to Hai Van Pass which had gorgeous views of the ocean. Ben stopped at this cute little place on the side for a Vietnamese coffee, tea and bananas!! He also took us to some little hidden gems along the way. We made our way down to the lagoon, which most tourists don’t get too or know about which made it even more special.
At the lagoon we stopped at a local oyster farmers house that was built on the water, he even gave us some fresh caught oysters! We then made our way to a seafood restaurant and Ben ordered us a delicious lunch that did not disappoint. We then headed back towards our place in Hoi An with again a few amazing little insider stops along the way..
Was definitely an experience to be able to see Vietnam without the tourist craze. Ben was so knowledgeable and spoke the most clearest English I’ve heard so far!
If your looking for a real experience with real people this is your place!
Don’t leave Vietnam without calling and booking a tour!
Thanks again Ben, truely amazing”!  Stefani, Australian, October 2017

“Tu was awesome, I spent a full day with him and Duc travelling to Marble Mountain, Monkey Mountain and Hai Van Pass. He managed to squeeze so many sights into one day and made the trip exciting and action packed from beginning to end. I really can’t recommend it enough.
We started early from our hotel in Hoi An and made our way to Marble Mountain through rice fields filled with lotus flowers and water buffalo, stopping off at the beach to take photos along the way. After visiting the beautiful caves and temples hidden in the mountain we made our way along the winding Hai Van mountain pass, taking in the amazing views and stopping for an excellent lunch at a floating restaurant. After eating we travelled back over the pass and to Monkey Mountain, paying a visit to a Buddhist Temple complex with a ginormous Lady Buddha statue, apparently the largest in Vietnam. On the way home the journey included an unscheduled stop to feed monkeys playing in the trees by the side of the road, a really great way to end the day.
We had several tours whilst in Vietnam and Tu was by far the best. Others seemed to merely take you from place to place and leave you to your own devices once you got there. However, Tu was different, his English is brilliant and he took the time to show us details we may have missed, explaining the history of the places we visited and religious symbolism of many of the statues and temples we passed along the way. All in all he and Duc really looked after us and were considerate, friendly and humorous, all of which provided for a great day out”. Paul, English, October 2017

Fantastic tour with Tu to Marble mountain, Hai Van pass and Monkey mountain.
Highly recommend this tour with Local Buddy Tours.
We started the day at 7.30 and returned around 5pm. Our guide Tu was excellent. His fluent English, knowledge and sense of humour made for a fantastic day. Although the steps up Marble mountain are quite steep, if you take your time they are easily manageable. There is a lift available if the steps seem too daunting. The inside of the cave was amazing and Tu’s local knowledge added to make this a memorable experience. Our visit to Hai Van pass was excellent. Here we saw the joining of the north and south of Vietnam and the impact this had during the the Vietnam war. We were able to see the bunkers the Americans used and the forests where the north Vietnamese hid. Once again Tu’s knowledge brought to life the history of this area. Our final stop to Monkey mountain was also very interesting. We had a beautiful clear day and the views were awe inspiring. Once again Tu told us the history of this area. We did stop for lunch at the floating restaurant and the meal was delicious. Overall the day was great fun we saw great sights and best of all we had a great guide. I would highly recommend Buddy Tours.
